Hey, sorry for that 2 week pause, my fellow fathers. but now I'm back with all the facts:
For you New York dads out there, if you're having trouble trying to find a place to take your kids to during the summer, well look no further. The New York City Zoos and Aquarium has a membership where with this pass you could take your kids to any zoo and aquarium in all of the 5 boros. Be sure to spend at least $150-$180 on the membership, but it's worth the money for it last for an entire year and you can come and go as you want. For you fathers who have kids who loves dinosaurs, the Bronx Zoo has recently opened up a Dinosaur park for the kids to check out some amazing looking dinosaur displays as they look so real and larger than life. I would highly recommend this to you fathers. This is an experience your children will never forget. Take it from someone who's been doing it for 3 years straight and the new Dino park just makes it that much better and special.

You're Daughter is Turning 12.....Good Luck
In life we all go through some changes. But one of the most drastic changes that comes early in life is from when you go from your Tweens to your Teens. This is the case for girls big time. I've heard stories from friends and family who have had to go through changes with their daughters when they were becoming teens. What they always tell me.....Good Luck. Didn't know what that meant till my daughter had turned 12. It's been a crucial year being a father to a 12 year old because of the changes that they go through. In their minds, we don't understand. But it's our jobs as parents to understand. A part of you wants them to experience stuff on their own. But a big part of you wants them not to. You have to be there for your daughter no matter what. It's hard and it's going to be rough. This is only the beginning from what I was told. So I got to prepare myself for inevitable. One thing is to let your daughter know that they are not alone, but at the same time let them know that you are the father as well. They will get moody, they will get very emotional and we as fathers can't feed into that and take it personal. You can't let it beat you down and make you feel like you're a bad Dad. Right now is when your daughter would need you the most. Single dads, this is an important time because if there's not a mother involved at all, you're gonna have to work overtime. You have to play both parts. I am grateful to have my kid's mother in their lives (because they live with her of course). So it's an easier job, but still a challenging one. Don't let what people say get to you as well with the 'Oh, I feel sorry for you' or 'This is only the beginning'. Yes, it's going to be tough and sometimes you're going see things coming out of left field. But we as fathers are bigger than that and will rise to the occasion to be there for our daughters because I would rather my daughter come to me for anything about her changes than for her to go to a stranger. I'm her friend, but I'm also her father. Always let them know that. #Fatherhoodrules.

Get Your Weight Up......For The Kids
As fathers, we use our hands for many reasons. To carry our child when they are babies, or to put together their cribs (then later beds), or even to put together a bike for them. But our hands can be a vital point for when you child has a doctor's appointment that they don't want to go to. Especially if it involves needles. In a recent situation, I went to accompany my daughter to the foot doctor for a procedure. She never likes to go to there because she knows what to expect. Put it this way, so I won't have to explain the procedure, it did involve needles. So I felt that the only way she would feel better is if she would not look at the doctor while he's poking the needle and hold my hand. Now for those who have kids that don't worry about the needle, you'll have no problem in this department. But for us that do, be prepared because if you didn't know your own child's strength (especially my 12 year old), now you know. You might have to warm up your hands a bit, put it in like an arm wrestling position and good luck. Lol! Doesn't matter if it's your son or daughter, pain is pain. The first time caught me off guard and I had to pull away because my hands were getting crushed. But in time I got used to it because of the reason why I'm doing it. To make my daughter feel comfortable about it. That's why we are here, fathers. These are moments that our child will always remember, and you hand won't either. So get your weight up and work on those hands and be prepared. Don't say I warned you.

Free Comic Book Day
Every year for the first Saturday of May is Free Comic Book Day. It's a time where you can take your children to a comic book store where they can receive free comic books. In this situation, not only do the kids win with getting free books, but you win as well with the time spent with them. So take advantage and go out there this Saturday, find your local comic book store retailer and go get some book. The time spent with them is going to be well worth it all.

Surprise, Surprise....Continue
Hey, my fatherhood people. So I went and surprised my daughter at her rugby game. The look on her face was priceless. These are moments as a father that you will cherish and your daughter (or son) will never forget. That's why it's important to stay active in their activities. It builds their self-esteem. Makes them feel better about themselves. And normally some kids do tend to perform better knowing that their parents are out there to support them. Especially if the parent doesn't live with them like myself. Just remember to make the efforts because in the long run, it's well worth it all.

Surprises, Surprises.....
One thing that a child would appreciate is the fact that you really care and are supportive in what they do. It motivates them and it can carry on into their adulthood. As a single father, it's hard because you're not at home with your child to know what events they have going for themselves as far as sports teams that they are on or other things that they participate in. But it's our jobs as fathers to keep on point with that. Just because we don't live with the child is not an excuse to not be a part of it. I've found out that my daughter was having a rugby game this weekend. What I'm doing now is use my 'Element of Surprise'. I don't want to tell her that I was going, but got enough information to do a little research myself. So I got the address and stuff to go and surprise her because I knew that it was hard for her mother to show up because she has two younger children (my sons) to travel with. The best part was that it's not too far from me. So what I'm doing is going to get ready and make my 'surprise' entrance to see her reaction. I will give you all details as to how it went down. But it should be a very positive one at that....

Welcome to The Fatherhood Rules
Hello and welcome to my weekly blog which I call ‘The Fatherhood Rules’. Here, I’ll be posting up stuff every week just basically talking about fatherhood and just stuff that we as fathers can do with our kids. Whether it be advice on being a better father or just giving you guys some ideas who are single fathers like myself and have visitations like myself. Well I’m going to get into who I am right now. I’m 37, a divorced father of 3 young children ranging the ages 7-12 years. I do everything and anything for my kids and I would like to share some of what I do with you fathers out there and just give you the low down on stuff. Everyday I see something or think of something different that as a father I would love to do and I’ll be posting these insights on a weekly basis so I can hopefully help you all out. I’ve even written a book called ‘I’m A Dad, Not A Deadbeat: A Single Father’s First 12 Years’. Which gives you some more advice as to being a father. You can check out the book at Barnes and Noble.com or Amazon.com. But what I do on the blog is going to be different than the book. So you’ll get even extra than what I give in the book. I guess you could call this blog the Extended Edition to the book. Lol! But seriously fellas, come check out my blog every week and read what I have to offer and let’s show these mothers that we’re just as good as they are when it comes to the parent game. Let’s just go have fun with it. I’ll probably be posting my first post tomorrow because this will serve as my introduction. So this gives you all time to spread the word. Come on fathers out there, let’s do this. #thefatherhoodrules.
